Debbie Kanter is an independent college consultant and co-owner of North Shore College Consulting. Debbie received a Bachelor of Science, Cum Laude, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a concentration in Psychology. She then continued at the University of Illinois and received a Master of Arts from the Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations. Having worked in the corporate world for 20 years, Debbie’s experience includes Human Resources, Marketing and Systems Administration.
Debbie is committed to keeping current on the constantly changing trends in the college admissions process. She received a Certificate of College Counseling with distinction from UCLA, enrolling in a rigorous curriculum of college consulting courses and participating in a required hand’s on internship experience. Additionally, she frequently participates in professional conferences, seminars, webinars and email listservs. In order to maintain her professional competency and establish contacts with college consulting professionals from across the country, Debbie is a member of NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling), HECA (Higher Education Consultants Association), and a Professional Member of IECA (Independent Educational Consultants Association). When not consulting with students from throughout Chicago’s North Shore, Debbie volunteers her time as a mentor to first-generation college students for College Bound Opportunities.
Debbie was born and raised on the North Shore and has lived in Highland Park for the last 15 years with her husband and two children. When Debbie is not pursuing everything college related, she enjoys running, playing tennis and attending her children’s many sporting events.
